Artist's Statement/Bio

Winter’s intaglio prints, books, studio art quilts, and paintings reference psychological and religious archetypes, altered states, and earth-based philosophies. Her approach is inspired by the visionary Symbolists and Surrealists. Images often include the human figure in relation to landscape and nature.

Images have appeared in: Changing Skies Vol. 2; Art Quilt Magazine; An Appalachian Journey Toward Justice (cover art), The Contemporary Quilt: New American Quilts and Fiber Art; The Conscious Use of Metaphor in Outward Bound (cover art); Moving Mountains music CD; We’Moon International Datebook, U.U. World magazine; various literary journals, and her own book, 4 Warnings: Shamanic Journeys.

Winter painted at Hartford Art School, holds a degree from Rhode Island School of Design, and studied at Pilchuck Glass School.
